Funeral services for J.E. Weeks, 87, of Channelview, Texas, will be held Friday, January 25, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Rev. Coy Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Zavalla Cemetery.

Mr. Weeks was born December 18, 1931 in Zavalla, Texas, the son of the late William Robert Weeks and Lila (Stringer) Weeks, and died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Houston. Mr. Weeks loved to be at the lake fishing and trot-lining. He also loved to play video games and enjoyed tinkering in his shed.

Mr. Weeks served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Roger Martin of Cypress, TX; son and daughter-in-law, John David and Mary Weeks of Dale, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Bruce and Julia Weeks of Humble, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Gene and Lynda Boaz-Colwell of Channelview, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Mona W. and Terry Miller of Lufkin; granddaughter and husband, Bren and Joshua Brewer of Cypress, TX; granddaughter, Fallon Martin of Cypress, TX; granddaughter and husband, Kari and Mark Waterworth of Cypress, TX; grandson and wife, Todd and Callie Wagner of Austin; granddaughter, Audra Weeks of Georgetown; granddaughter and husband, Kassandra and Dillon Fincher of Ennis, TX; grandson, Lane Williams of Zavalla; grandchildren, Chase Miller, Alyssa Miller, and Anthony Miller all of Lufkin; great-granddaughters, Sienna Brewer, Vivienne Brewer, Brynlee Wagner, Paisley Weeks, and Ellie Kay Fincher; great-grandsons, Drake Wagner and Rory Fincher; brother and sister-in-law, Samuel Bronson and Tina Weeks of Lampasas, TX; sister, Blanch Lefler of Hudson; sister, Rachel Creamer of Chicago, IL; sister, Joyce Phillips of Huntington; sister and husband, Frances and Coy Roach of Breckenridge, TX; sister, Rebecca Pitre of Zavalla; along with numerous step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Brooks Weeks; sister, Edna Lee Cooper; and brother-in-law, John Phillips.

Pallbearers will be John David Weeks, Robert Jones, Tim Weeks, Delbert Jones, Lane Williams, and Anthony Miller. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the funeral service. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
