Jean Lukens Buoy, 88, of Millmont, passed from this life at 3:50 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and caregivers with their choir singing beautiful Christian hymns, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. She was born December 12, 1930, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Wilbur K. and Myrtle M. (Zimmerman) Lukens. On Feb.

12, 1949, she married Merrill S. Buoy, who preceded her in death October 25, 2012. Jean was a graduate and valedictorian of the last graduating class of Hartley Township High School in 1948. Jean and her husband owned and operated their family’s business, Buoy’s Laurel Market, for 31 years.

Earlier in life, she was employed at Laurelton State Village for women, and American Home Foods, Milton. She was a member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Millmont. Jean and her husband enjoyed traveling, which included visiting all 50 states and numerous countries.

She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, fishpond, and watching the many birds that visited her bird feeders. Jean looked forward to the annual camping trips to local state parks with her family. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Donald Zerbe, of Laurelton, Karen Koch, of Leesport, Melanie and Gary Schriver, of Millsboro, Delaware, and Denise and Jim Zettle, of Spring Mills; one son and daughter-in-law, V. Michael and Trisha Buoy, of Millmont; 13 grandchildren, Emily Etchberger, Brian Zerbe, Monica Lutz, Melissa Schlenker, Danielle and Troy Koch, Eric and Adrea Schriver, Drew and Layne Zettle, Cameron, Brahm and Luken Buoy; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and James Seidel of Milton; one sister-in-law, Doris Lukens of Mifflinburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Lukens. Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd. , Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with the Rev.

John Yost officiating. Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Road, Millmont, PA 17845.
