On October 24, 1926 Jean was born at home to Louis and Irene (Jankovits) Borsody. She died of natural causes peacefully at the home of her daughter. She was an elegant lady, just like her mother, part of a different generation, true matriarchs looking after their families.
We are blessed that she left behind letters and keepsakes she collected over the years, treasured glimpses of her past. Surviving are her children Jeanne Ann (John) Gadd, Eileen (Dave) Huff, William “Bill” Meszaros, all of South Bend, and James “Jim” (Linda) Meszaros of Grand Rapids, MI and her grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Grimm of Brighton, CO, Joshua (Jayme) Barcus of Granger, IN, Caleb (Kandice) Barcus of Golden CO, Angela Meszaros of Grand Rapids. MI, and Fr.
Aaron Meszaros of Minneapolis, MN. Preceding her in death are her husband John and her dearly beloved son, John “Jack” Meszaros and a sister, Norma. Jean attended Our Lady of Hungary Grade School , St Joseph Academy and Indiana University at Bloomington majoring in economics.
She also worked at First Source Bank during the 40’s and Forest G. Hay Grade School for many years, all the while taking care of our dear brother Bill who remained at home with her, and always being on call 24/7 for her grandchildren. At 60, she joined an investment club, saying it’s never too late. She was very well versed in politics and public affairs and left behind the telephone numbers of many a congressman, senator or government agency.
When Jean went grade school there were two Jeans, so the teacher had Jean spell her name Jeanne, which stayed with her until she went to college and was called Jeannie. When she came back home to marry John, September 13, 1947 she again became Jeanne and together they raised five children. They attended St. Jude Catholic Church.
Their marriage lasted over 50 Years. Jean loved playing bridge and entertaining wonderful neighbors, friends, and family. She went on to care for her mother, who lived to 100 year and John who became ill and died at 82.
She was a support to all of her mother’s sisters and brother. Jean and John were part of a large family on both sides. There were many gatherings at holidays for meals and lots of family stories and laughs.
Where Jean was there was always a smile. Viewing will take place from 11-1 Thursday, May 24, 2018 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 in the funeral home.
