Jeffrey’s Obituary South Portland – Jeffrey Warren Ladd 58, of South Portland died in Portland Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Maine Medical Center with his loving wife by his side. Jeff was born in Sanford, Maine in 1960 the son of Marjorie A. Ladd. He went to South Portland High School graduating in 1978, he earned his Associate’s Degree from SMVTI Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute as an Automotive Tech.

Jeffrey married Leeanne Leary on May 19, 2001. He had many jobs through out his life. He managed several Gibbs Service Stations throughout Southern Maine.

He was a supervisor at Eastern Security Systems/Protection One. He was also a Captain of the South Portland Fire Department Company Engine # 6 where he served for over 27 years. He was a Public Safety Dispatcher for the City of Westbrook.

In his youth during summers, he assisted on fishing boats in the Camp Ellis area. Jeff was a member of the Thornton Heights Methodist Church in South Portland. Jeff Loved everything Fire Department, parades, Fire Shows and flea markets.

He loved watching TV including the Red Sox, going on drives in his truck with no destination for the two of them, going fishing, playing solitaire together and spending time on his phone and the computer. He loved to travel to Amish Country in Pennsylvania. When his nephew Gunner was in sports, he couldn’t get there fast enough to cheer him on.

Jeff had three moms Marjorie Ladd, Christine Thurlow and Janice Graham who all worked together at New England Telephone. He is predeceased by his mother Marjorie Ladd, second mom Christine Thurlow, nephew Eric Thurlow, and Janice’s husband Wendell Graham, Uncles Don Lee and Irving Soule, Aunts Lois Lee and Eleanor Soule, cousins Doug Lee and Andrea Soule. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Leeanne Ladd of South Portland, sister-in-law Charleen Durgin, Nephew Gunner Durgin, Brother in Law Louis Leary, James Leary other close family members Scott Thurlow, Janice Graham, Todd Libby, several cousins Shelley Watson and husband Joe, Debbie Lee and Husband Mark Anthony, Kristen Collins and husband Ernie and their daughter Kim.

Leeanne would like to thank the many healthcare professionals over the last 4-5 years that took great care of Jeff; Mercy, MMC, New England Rehab, Mass General and Spaulding-Cambridge, MA, Southern Maine Dialysis, Casco Bay Dialysis, Mercy-Nephrology. A special thanks for keeping Jeff with us longer Dr. Sagar Nigwekar of Mass General, Dr. Paul Bloch of MMP Surgical Vascular, Dr. Helen Soule of Mercy, Dr. Rebecca Hutchinson and Ursula Nehrt PA-C of MMC, Taylor Zak Social Worker at MMC, Dr. Stuart Abramson and colleagues. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM Monday, January 28th at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, Maine 04106.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, the 29th at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Maine Nephrology Associates 5K Walk/Run “For Kidney Health” ATTN Rebecca Brinegar 1600 B Congress Street Portland, Maine 04102.
