Jennie M. Stines, 71, of Merrillville, IN passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 after a short illness. She was born on June 6, 1947 to Everett James and Lorean (Walls) Carver in Sardis, MS. She is survived by her life partner of 29 years, Frank Johnson; sister, Aline “Doll” Smith; niece, Valdevia “De De” (Bernard Whitfield) Smith and adopted grand-daughter, Zhana Pickett; other family members and precious friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, Everett James and Lorean Carver. Jennie worked for over 20 years at U. S. Steel and taught in the Gary School System for many years. The family will receive friends at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408 (219) 980-5555 on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. All services will be at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart, IN. Jennie will be dearly missed by all who loved her. May God Grant Her Eternal Rest.
