Murray, age 80, of Brown City, passed away in his home on March 1, 2019. He was born in Brown City on April 8, 1938 to Max and Helen Murray. He graduated from Brown City Highs School in 1956, and was the Class President.

He held degrees from California College of Mortuary Science, University of Michigan, and Eastern Michigan University. He was both a public and international teacher, successful business owner, and in retirement a “junque” dealer. His knowledge of Brown City history was unparalleled and his interest in collecting local memorabilia was never fulfilled.

He had a lifelong interest in vintage cars and auto related items. Jerry was co-founder and first President of the Brown City Historical Society. He was a former Brown City Council member and active in the 1976 Centennial celebration.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife, Shirley Nichols Murray, his only son, Timothy Murray and his wife, Stephanie Severance, grandchildren Jacob (Michele) Murray, Christina (Eric) Kretschmer, and Ethan Murray. Completing this circle of love is his great grandson, Declan Murray. He is also survived by his brother Joe Murray (Judy).

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m. at the Carman Funeral Home in Brown City. Family will receive visitors beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
