Jerry Wayne Poindexter May 13, 1951 – February 27, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Jerry Wayne Poindexter, 67, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019. He was born May 13, 1951 in Surry County to the late Homer James Poindexter and Agnes Louise Logan Poindexter. In addition to his parents Mr. Poindexter was proceeded in death by his sisters Elaine Hicks, Janice Wright; brother-in-law Gregg Hemric; sister-in-law Lavonne Poindexter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Lynn Clayton Poindexter; son James Benjamin Poindexter (Amy); daughter Kimberly Poindexter Caudle (Waylon); grandchildren Abigail, Elana, and Isaac Poindexter, Melanie, Willow, and Evelyn Caudle; brother Mike Poindexter. Jerry was a loving husband and father. He dearly loved all the grandchildren and each one was so special to him.

They were a great blessing and he told everyone about them. Jerry was an avid gardener and loved being outside. He was a member of Marler Road Baptist Church, where he dearly loved his church family and Jerry never met a stranger.

His funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 2, 2019, 11:00 AM at Marler Road Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. He will lie-in-state at the church from 10:30 AM till 11:00 AM.

Burial will follow in the Marler Road Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gentry Family Funeral Service. The family would like to thank the Hemric family for their tireless support and dedication to their Uncle Jerry and Aunt Lynn.

The family would like to also thank the doctors and nurses at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, their Marler Road Church family, Pastor Randy Johnson, and Jerry’s former co-workers for their prayers and loving kindness shown to the Poindexter family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Family House, 1970 Baldwin Lane, Winston Salem, NC, 27103. Online condolences may be made to www.
