Jerry L. Hoover passed away July 7, 2018 at the age of 73. He was born to Holder “Bus” and Lois (Lenard) Hoover on February 2, 1945 Mena, Arkansas. He graduated from Mena High School.

Jerry worked for Weyerhaeuser for 35 years. During that time he worked up to Head Setup for the planning mill and was later transferred to Pulp and Paper where he eventually retired in 1999. Jerry married Linda Beach in Eugene, Oregon at the Westley Methodist Church on March 19, 1965.

He was a prior member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges, but a member of the Elks Lodge for 31 years. He loved the great outdoors, including hunting and camping; traveling, and was an avid wood-worker. His biggest joy was playing with his granddaughters Maxine and Frankie.

Jerry is survived by his wife Linda of 53 years, his son Blake Hoover and daughter in law Wendy Swartz of Portland, OR. ; grandchildren Maxine and Frankie; brother Russell (Iva) Hoover of Springfield, OR; brother Gene Hoover of Springfield, OR; and Mike (Barbara) Hoover of Mena, AR. He was preceded in death by his son Troy Hoover and daughter Delayna Hoover.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge in Springfield, OR. For details, please contact Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Eugene, OR. A private inurnment will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Eugene, OR.
