Obituary for Jessie James Gilliam Jessie James Gilliam, 92, of Blackwater, VA passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Jessie was born on September 26, 1926 to Stella and Henry Gilliam. He was known as a hard worker.

He loved being outside, working as a farmer and carpenter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Stella and Henry Gilliam; one daughter, Linda Gilliam Sloan; three brothers, Ewing, Victor and Merle Gilliam; two sisters, Cordelia Ruscoe and Buna Gilliam. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lucille Gilliam; one granddaughter, Jessica Sloan Carter; one great-granddaughter, Zoey Carter; one great-grandson, Jackson Carter; one brother, Elic Gilliam of Weezer, Idaho; one sister, Ina Belle Little of Deming, Washington and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 5 until 7:00 p.m. at Robinette Funeral Home in Blackwater, VA. Funeral services will follow with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 10:00 a.m. in the Gilliam Cemetery in Blackwater, VA.
