Jesus H. Garcia, beloved father, Papa, uncle, neighbor and devoted husband to Margarita, his love of 73 years, passed away on November 22, 2018 from natural causes in his home with his wife and family by his side. Chuey, as he was affectionately called by his friends, was born on February 9, 1922 in San Pedro Caro, Venustiano Carranza, Michoacán, Mexico to Alberto Garcia and Esther Hernandez-Garcia. Dad was united in marriage to Margarita Martinez on June 26, 1945 in Vallecitos, New Mexico.

They were blessed with five children, and he loved each of us deeply: Esther Barbiero (Frank); Dolores Brown (Kent); Albert Garcia (Edith); Helen Wiseman (Bruce); and JoAnn Jex (Russell). Dad’s greatest gift to his family was the love he had for our mother. He was a family man through and through, forever and unwaveringly devoted to his family.

He is survived by his wife Margarita, his five children and their families, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His love for each grandchild was immense. He also leaves his nieces and nephews who he loved like his own: Sammy Martinez (Cecilia), Dora Martinez, Ferdy Martinez (Jeanette), Nancy Quintana, José Luis Garcia (Lupe) and their families.

Dad planted a huge garden every year that was enjoyed by family, neighbors, and friends…he loved to feed people. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to the Utah Food Bank in his honor. A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with a short viewing prior to mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 Lennox St., Midvale.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. followed by a rosary starting at 7:30 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale.
