Jesus’ Obituary JESUS HECTOR PEREZ AUGUST 4, 1938 – JANUARY 7, 2019 Jesus Héctor Perez Benavides lived a fulfilling life of 80 years and was called by God on January 7, 2019 surrounded by all our family, finding strength in each other to rejoice that God was with us on such a truly beautiful day. Jesus H. Perez had many loves…love of family, friends, good food, and fishing. He never turned down an invitation to go cast his reel.

He was known for always having a kind word, lending a helping hand, and leading us all with an unshakable quiet strength that is unforgettable. Even through the last years of his life, it wasn’t unlikely to find him fixing what needed fixing. He had a profound love for cooking, and he never let a holiday (or Sunday) go by without cooking a meal for his family.

On December 29, 1966, Jesus married his soulmate and love of his life Maria Luisa Pinon. Together for 52 years, they embraced each other every day with a love that has most definitely left an imprint. The steadiest of pillars, Papa Chuy will always be remembered as a simple man seated at his chair by the window, which overlooked the “toronja” tree that his grandkids loved to climb.

Papa Chuy watched as what he worked so hard for was realized. He was a quiet man whose silence spoke volumes and taught us more about life through living. Though, when he did say something, it was never short of wit and wisdom.

He never failed to gather just the right words you needed to hear. His words will continue to resonate in our hearts, minds, and souls as we learn to navigate through these subsequent chapters in our lives. He is preceded in death by: Jose Raymundo and Maria Guadalupe Perez; brother: Anselmo Alejandro Perez.

Left behind to cherish his memory are: beloved spouse: Maria Luisa Piñon-Perez; children: Patricia (Jorge) Lañas, Sylvia Babiak, Raymundo (Dana) Perez, Maria Guadalupe (Michael) Augustine, Gilberto (Abelina) Perez; grandchildren: Jorge Lañas, Carolina Lañas, Samantha Babiak, Isabella Lañas, Luis Antonio Babiak Jr., Raymundo Perez Jr., Brenda Perez, Amanda Babiak, Andrea Lañas, Diego Perez, Cedric Perez, and Mauricio Perez; siblings: Emma Perez, Alma (Ricardo) Garza, Anna Victoria Vasquez, and Raymundo R. Perez, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in his memory to the Bethany House of Laredo. The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Joe Jackson North Funeral & Cremation Services, 1410 Jacaman Rd.
