Mr. Jim Garnett Burris of Campbellsville passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness. Born on June 15, 1928 to the late Willie and Pearl (Downey) Burris, he was 90 years, 1 month, and 1 day of age. Mr. Burris had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle.

He was a heavy equipment operator, and the owner/operator of Garnett Burris Excavating. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country honorably during the Korean War. He loved his family and friends, and spent as much time as possible with them.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife: Donna (Hamilton) Burris, Two children: Phillip Burris and wife Darlene, and Todd Burris and wife Theresa, all of Campbellsville, One sister: Hilda Holmes and husband Billy of Louisville, Three grandchildren: Anthony Burris, Shannon Burris and wife Ranita, and Wesley Todd Burris, Five great-grandchildren, And a host of other family and friends. He was also preceded in death by seven siblings: Belle Keltner, Barbara Ann Simpson, Catherine Holmes, Ray Burris, Paul Burris, Coakley Burris, and Gilbert Burris. There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Burris on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY.

Bro. Billy Holmes and Mr. Jeff Burris will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3878 Old Greensburg Rd, Campbellsville, KY.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18, from 5:00-8:00 PM.
