Obituary for Irene Moon Mrs. Irene Banks Moon of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Ed Banks and Emma Arms Banks, was born on Wednesday, September 24, 1930 in Hazard County, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg. She was 87 years, 9 months, and 3 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Trammell Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She united in marriage to Weldon C. Moon on June 16, 1951 who preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Pamela Moon, Mike and Debrah Moon, and Tracy and Glenda Moon all of Greensburg; a daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Terry Martin of Greensburg; a step-daughter: Eula Harmon of Indiana; step daughter-in-law: Brenda Moon Simpson of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Moon was also preceded in death by a step-son: Varner K. “Bud” Moon; three sisters: Dorothy Lee Banks McCracken Mikula, Edith May Banks, and Daisy Alene Banks Maucher.
