Jo Warren Aaron, was born May 4, 1928 in Davis, Oklahoma to Leonard and Minnie (Newberry) Warren. She died peacefully Monday March 4, 2019 in Sulphur. Services will be held Thursday, March 7 at 1:00 P.M. at Crossway First Baptist Church conducted by Rev.

Bill Leveridge. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. A Murray County resident all of her life, she married the love of her life, Arnold Aaron on October 11, 1946 at Sulphur.

He preceded her in death March 7, 2014. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree with honors from East Central University of Oklahoma. She did post-graduate work in creative writing at the University of Oklahoma and was honored as one of the 5 most recognized creative writing teachers in the United States.

Jo had an unwaver¬ing love for the Lord and her family. Jo enjoyed cooking, working with her flowers and reading. The matriarch of all her family, Jo will long be remembered for creating extraordinary, memorable holidays.

She was a beacon of light and love, an incomparable woman of beauty and grace. Her many friends and family will miss her engaging personality and lively wit. A devoted member of Crossway First Baptist Church of Sulphur, Jo was honored in 2006 for 60 continuous years of teaching children’s Sunday school.

A passionate and gifted teacher, she taught English, history and creative writing for 23 years at Davis High School, where she is affectionately remembered by her students as an outstanding educator. Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Paul and Kelly Aaron, of Sulphur, Brent and Sue Aaron of Sulphur, Robin and Keith Gray of Ardmore three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; one sister, Sue Madigan of Ellisville, Mo. ;2 brothers of Sulphur, Micky Warren, Bill Warren and his wife Delores, who Jo loved as a sister; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Minnie Warren; and a sister, Ginger Warren Cleveland. Serving as pall bearers: Paul Aaron, Brent Aaron, Keith Gray, Howard Aaron, Jeremy Wilkins, Josh Wilkins. Hayden Aaron and Holten Aaron.

Services are under the direction of Dearman Funeral Home of Sulphur. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorials to the Oklahoma Baptist Children’s Homes, 3800 N. May, Okla. City, OK.
