Joan Elaine Hamman Cox of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 7:36 p.m. at Lake City Place of Warsaw on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the age of 88. She was born on January 29, 1930 in Whitley County, Indiana to Warren Henry Slater and Florence Irene (Reasoner) Slater. She was married to Samuel Hamman on October 29, 1949, he passed away in 1985.

Joan re-married on July 4, 1987 to Thomas H. Cox, who passed away on September 3, 1999. Joan has been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana since 1985 where she was a member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker and had worked part-time at J.C. Penney.

She was a kind and soft spoken lady, who loved her family dearly, and will be missed by her family, church family and countless friends. She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Jeffrey (wife Connie) Hamman (Leesburg, Indiana); Chad Hamman (Bristol, Tennessee); and her daughter: Melinda (husband Michael) Walters (Wabash, Indiana). She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jeff (wife Cathy) Hamman (Plymouth, Indiana); Honey Walters (Sacramento, California); Miranda Hamman (Waterloo, Indiana); Melissa Hamman (Fort Wayne, Indiana); Ashley Hamman (Garrett, Indiana); and several great grandchildren, as well as step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sons, David and Paul Hamman, and one grandson, Stephen Hamman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana. Her funeral service will follow immediately at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and officiated by Dr. Erik Ohman.

Burial will take place at South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, Indiana. Memorial donations may be directed to Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church 210 S. High Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580.
