Obituary of Joan Krystow Joan Hageny Krystow passed away after a brief illness, on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018. Joan (née Isabelle Joan Hageny) was born at home in Jersey City, NJ on Oct.

14, 1927. She will be lovingly remembered by her 2 children – Isabelle (William) and Paul (Bernadette), 4 grandchildren – Maryanna, Stephen, Ryan, and Paul, and 1 great-grandson – Breeze. Joan was predeceased by her husband Paul E. Krystow, brother Jack Hageny, and parents John Hageny and Isabelle Willis Hageny.

Joan graduated from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Following college, she was a chemist at Colgate & Company where she met her husband, Paul Krystow. After raising 2 children, Joan taught 3rd and 5th grades in Mountainside, NJ and retired in 1992.

Joan was a member of AAUW, Alpha Xi Delta & St. Paul’s Church in Westfield, NJ. She enjoyed playing bridge, dining out, knitting, traveling and reading. In 2016, Joan moved to Bellingham, WA to be closer to her daughter.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Westfield, NJ at a future date. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Joan to the charity of your choice. Joan’s full-length obituary and memorial service details will be posted here soon.
