Obituary of Phyllis “Sam” Sherin Phyllis Ann “Sam” Sherin, born April 11, 1940, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Phillip and Alice Sherin. She is survived by her foster son John Stryker, wife Becca, and grandson Samuel, who she loved and adored, and who brought her endless hours of enjoyment.

John was like a son to Phyllis and was the light of her life. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to John for the many years of devotion to Phyllis. Her surviving siblings are sisters Kathleen (Chuck) Robinson of Nooksack, WA, Eileen Kosa (Warren Peterson) of Willow River, MN and Nancy Durrant of Simi Valley, CA; brother Duane (Louise) Sherin of Morton, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families, who she loved, and who loved her dearly.

Phyllis aka “Sam” was derived by skiing friends when she worked at Mt. Baker Lodge during her high school years. The name stuck, and family and friends know her as “Sam” or “Aunt Sam”.

Phyllis was an avid reader and she loved skiing and volleyball in her younger years. She attended Mt. Baker High School, graduation in 1958.

Following high school, she went to California to attend a modeling class, worked several years for the Greyhound Bus Company and a dental clinic in Hollywood, CA. She returned to Washington in the 1990’s to become part owner/manager for an apartment complex and retired from Fluke Industries in Everett, WA. She lived and laughed and loved and left.

There will be a private family graveside service held December 14th at Greenacres Memorial Park with a celebration of her life held later.
