Obituary of Ruth Livermore On Sunday, November 25, 2018, Ruth Violet Livermore passed away at the age of 95. Ruth was born on August 7, 1923 in Fairdale, North Dakota to Theodore and Hannah Melland. She came to Bellingham at the age of four and resided there for the rest of her life.

On June 20, 1947 she married the late Norman Gerald Livermore (Jerry) and they raised four children – Bill, Gail, Pat and Jeff. Ruth was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening, sewing, camping, going to garage sales and baking.

She especially liked making lefse, krub and other special foods from her Norwegian roots. She is remembered by family and friends as kind, caring, giving and always thinking of others. Her children remember that mom was always cheerful, supportive and encouraging.

We remember her flavorful hearty soups with dumplings and her famous pies. Ruth is survived by her four children: William (June) Livermore, Gail (Michael) LaLumiere, Patricia (Greg) Aarestad, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Livermore; brother George Melland; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Aarestad home, 4925 E. 12th Drive, Bellingham, WA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arthritis National Research Foundation, 5354 E. 2nd Street, Suite 201, Long Beach, CA 90803.
