Obituary of Dorothy Martin Dorothy Martin, age 93, of Ferndale, passed away Monday, November 26, 2018, at Silverado in Bellingham. She was born August 25, 1925, in Ethelton, Saskatchewan, Canada to Seth and Marie (Brown) Carson, the 6th of 14 children. After finishing school, she moved to Berkeley California.

Dorothy was given a position at the University of California, working on the Calutron/Manhattan Project. After WWII, she worked for the telephone company before moving to Seattle. It was then that mutual friends introduced her to the love of her life, Vern Martin.

They married on June 4, 1949 in Issaquah, built their home there, and enjoyed many good times at their vacation home on Lake Cavanaugh with family and friends. Together they enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, gardening and especially entertaining family and friends. Dot was known for her generosity and graciousness by those who came to know her.

After Vern had retired, they build their final home at Sandy Point, Washington. Their adventures never ceased and neither did the fresh crab and salmon which Dot and Vern served up to all who visited. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Vern in 1998 and is survived by her children, Jerry Martin and his wife Karin of Blaine; Valerie McLean and her husband Jesse of Enumclaw; grandsons: Bo Martin and his wife Andrea, Jonathan Martin and his wife Ann; and Karoline Martin.

Dorothy also leaves 5 sisters, 1 brother and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 6 sisters and 1 brother. At Dot’s request there will be no funeral service.
