Joanne (JoJo) Marie Seger, of Harwinton passed away June 1, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Joanne was born in Torrington, May 12 1945 daughter of the late Alfred and Irene (Costello) Seger. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1963 and Western Connecticut State College in 1967.
She was a 5th grade teacher at North and East Schools in Torrington retiring in 2003. She was an avid golfer and had been a member of Greenwoods CC for many years. She was a lifelong member of the YMCA and loved bowling.
She is survived by her brother Edward and wife Shirley(Hull) Seger and their daughters Cheryl Barney and husband Steven and their children Christopher and Nicholas, Kelly Mazzarelli and husband James and their children Jacob, Brooke, Katherine, and Alexandria, as well as lifelong friend Antonia Savage. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday June 7 at Lourdes Shrine in Litchfield.
Burial will follow at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington. Memorial Contributions can be made to The Jimmy Fund 10 Brookline Place West Brookline MA 02445-7226.
