Donatantonio Gerardi, Jr. 85, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Saint Francis Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Dolores (Hashim) Gerardi for 59 years. Donatantonio was born June 6, 1933, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Donato Antonio and Domenica Maria (Sabia) Gerardi.

He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the U. S. Air Force. A graduate of Torrington High School and Bryant College, he was employed as an Accountant with the U. S. Treasury Department. He enjoyed gardening, especially harvesting fresh tomatoes and basil, watching the Yankees and the Giants, trips to Cape Cod, spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren, and especially Sunday family dinners.

A lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church, he was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society, where he served three times as President, he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus life member, and a member of the Torrington Elks Lodge. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by three children, Michael Gerardi and his wife Beverly of Brunswick, ME, Alice Prunk and her husband Dr. Steven Prunk of Farmington, CT, Dr. Daniel Gerardi and his wife Darlene of West Simsbury, CT; eight grandchildren, Eli and Angelo Gerardi of Brunswick, ME, Matthew, Andrew, and Michael Prunk of Farmington, CT, Dominic, Michele and Daniel Gerardi of West Simsbury, CT, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Frank, Angelo, Michael, Vito, Dominic Gerardi and Rose Bianchi.

The Gerardi family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center for their dedication and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church.

Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
