Our beautiful, beloved mother, Wanda Madeux, passed away at home July 2, 2018 with family at her side. Born April 21, 1915, in Scranton, PA, to Frank and Elizabeth Wyzykowski, her early years were spent in Scranton until the family moved to Torrington, CT. She made her home in Torrington, then moved to her daughter’s in West Hartford, CT.

Mom joins Dad (Roger) who has been waiting for his “Wan”. They were married for 63 years, before his passing in 2000. Mom is survived by son Ron (Sharon) of South Yarmouth, MA, and daughter Maureen of West Hartford; loving grandchildren Laurie Pellegren, Lisa Madeux and Matt Madeux.

Mom was blessed with great-grandchildren Amber, Alex and James Pellegren and Brandon Madeux, and great granddaughter Shawn Brookman. She is survived by friend, sister-in-law and casino pal, Shirley Laigle, who always lent a helping hand. Mom leaves many loving and attentive nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by sisters Caroline Jankowski, Stella Werner and brother Anthony Wyzykowski. Retired from the Torrington Company, she enjoyed her retirement by taking classes, traveling, braiding rugs and spending time with family and friends. An excellent cook, there was always room for one more at her table.

Mom will always be remembered for her warm and loving heart, her genuine kindness, giving nature, and unconditional love which she freely shared. We ask that you honor her generous spirit and memory by acts of kindness with someone who might need it – just as she would have done. Private family services are entrusted to Cook Funeral Home, Torrington.
