Ruby Joanne Reese Gregory, age 79 of West Jefferson, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice and Pallative Care. Mrs. Gregory was born September 15, 1938 in Macon, Georgia to the late John and Inez Walden Gregory. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Gregory, brothers, Glynn Reese and Wayne Reese, sister, Margaret Reese and two great-grandchildren.

Ruby was a loving wife and mother. She was a member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church. Joanne worked for over 20 years at the Council on Aging.

Her hobbies included working on crafts, spending time with her pets and flower gardening. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Mt. Paddy Church by Pastor Tim Roten and Pastor Kenneth Gregory.

Burial will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM prior to the service. Mrs. Gregory is survived by, sons, Dale Gregory and wife Jeannie of Marion, NC, Allan Gregory and wife Sara of Banner Elk & Kenneth Gregory and wife Charlene of Jefferson, daughters, Terry Brewer and Wayne of Newland & Polly Keller and Vince of Jonas Ridge, one brother, Grover Reese of Winston, GA, 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
