Joanne Weaver, 88, of Meadville passed away Monday, September 3, 2018, at UPC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Joanne Weaver, the former Joanne Pressler Martin, was born in Pittsburgh, on June 24, 1930, to Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Martin, II. She was raised in Pittsburgh and met and married Ralph Weaver, also of Pittsburgh.

They lived there until 1956 before moving to Meadville. She was a 1947 graduate of Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, and attended American Institute… Read More » of Banking in Pittsburgh, working for Farmers National Bank there. In Meadville, she attended Allegheny College and was the recipient of the Women’s Group Scholarship, focusing in Psychology and Sociology.

She was an administrative assistant at Meadville City Hospital, Associated Charities, Northwest Training Partnership Consortium and Emmanuel Church. Survivors include a brother, William J. Martin III, three children Stephanie Cares (Gregg) of Warwick, RI, Miss Randi Weaver of London, England, R. Michael Weaver of Meadville, grandchildren Nathan Bahurinsky (Michelle) of Meadville, Justin and Danielle Cares of Warwick, RI, Wesley Weaver of Coraopolis, Ryan and Jeremy Weaver of Reese, MI, Tessa Ann Collins of Meadville and one great grandchild Hannah Bahurinsky of Meadville, several nieces and nephews. She is further survived by Lee Moore of Ledyard, CY, who was the friend and companion of her late son, Dan.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her loving children Cynthia Ann (Weaver) Collins, Daniel E. Weaver and her son in law Donald Collins who was the husband of her late daughter, Cynthia. She experienced great enjoyment from volunteer roles at Meadville Medical Center-Liberty St., Wesbury Nursing Home and while attending New Beginnings Church of God in Meadville. She loved crossword puzzles and was passionate about caregiving for friends and family in need.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 3-5 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. , 404 CHESTNUT ST. , MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 5 PM with Dr. Rev.

Tim Solomon, Pastor of Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, officiating. Joanne will be laid to rest in Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, she has requested that donations be made to Salvation Army, 1087 Park Ave.
