Obituary for Joe L. Edgehouse Joe Edgehouse went to heaven to be with his beloved wife Sue on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. It seems as though he had to get to her in time to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on September 6. Pap, as he is affectionately called, was born on November 17, 1935 in Adena, OH to John and Pearl Edgehouse.
A son of a coal miner family, he grew up knowing the value of hard work and family devotion. He was the youngest of nine, and Aunt Lou is now the sole survivor of the Edgehouse clan. She will be 91 in October.
He cherished her always and would speak to her weekly by phone and got upset if he didn’t. He entered the Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1974 in San Antonio, TX. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always his #1 priority and focus in life, until his last breath.
Joey, Debby, Mahnie, Eric, Adam, Angie, Connor, Cameron, AJ and Aleyza. Pap’s love of sports was infectious, as evident by his family. We all love sports, football & baseball especially.
The Ohio State Buckeyes was his obsession, and many times, after a defeat, we would have to watch over him because he became sad and moody. But now, an angel will be watching this team hopefully take another National Championship this year. Oh how we loved bantering about sports with him.
Adam and Angie always got asked to get him scores. Watching the game with him and enjoying guacamole that Angie is famous for was our favorite times. Saturday College Football will never be the same without him, but we will watch, cheer and cry in his honor.
He loved to watch western movies, Gunsmoke and shows of the sort. And at his side for these events, were his pups, Walker and Bruiser. They were such companions for each other.
Pap was loved by all who met him, and made everyone feel at home and accepted. His wit and humor, stories he would tell of his life were always entertaining. RIP precious Pap, you were an inspiration and of support to us all, no matter what, and a man we can all be proud to call our own.
We love you beyond belief and you will be missed. Give Mom our love with lots of hugs and kisses. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Joe L. Edgehouse please visit our Sympathy Store.
