Obituary for Johanna Brownlee Dateline: Alton Johanna Brownlee, 92, died at 9:45 p.m. Friday September 7, 2018 at Integrity of Godfrey. She was born on August 1, 1926 in Germany, the daughter of the late Josefa and Johann (Kuranda) Schlachta. Johanna was a homemaker, devoted and loving wife and Godmother.

She was a member of St Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, loved animals and was an avid reader. Johanna married William D. Brownlee on June 24, 1950 in Frankfurt, Germany and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1983. Surviving are two sisters; Ursula Dwyer of Alton and Martha Zink of Germany, three nieces and a nephew and their spouses; Lydia and Volker Gimbel, Brigitte and Reinhold Wamser, Renate and Reinhold Roeth, and Gunter and Marga Zink all of Germany.

She was preceded in death by a sister; Marianne Treutler. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Fr. Steve Janoski officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to Masses. Online guestbook and additional information may be found at www.
