John C. Malison, of 164 Penguin Drive, Cortland, passed away while under the care of Hospice and his loving family on Sunday, May 27, 2018. He was born October 20, 1951 in Ithaca, a son of the late John J. and Lillian Boyce Malison and was a graduate of Cortland High School. John worked as a welder at Pall Trinity for several years, retiring in 1989 due to an injury.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening and loved to hunt, fish and go camping. Surviving is his loving wife; Nancy L. Janack Malison; four children, Jacob T. (Tawn) Malison of Glens Falls; Colleen R. Vosburgh of Newark Valley; Steven J. (Stacy) Hobart of Cortland and David W. Brown of Cortland; five siblings, Cathy A. (Martin) Ostrander of Cortland; Regina R. Cunard (Patricia Woodard) of Madison, VA; Mary A. (Steven) Polan of Afton, TN; Lillian J. Malison of Moravia and Elaine J. (Christopher) Doe of Cortland. He will be greatly missed by his twelve grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a brother, Joseph D. Malison and his son-in-law, John W.D. Vosburgh. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer. Interment will follow in Atwater Cemetery, Homer.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00am until the time of the service, Memorial contributions in Mr. Malison’s name may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
