Obituary for John Norlund Petersburgh, New York – John C. Norlund of Oak Street, Norton, MA and recently of Petersburgh, NY died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 23, 2018. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth E. Norlund for 66 years. He was born in Attleboro, MA on July 20, 1921 of the late Thomas and Evangeline Norlund.
His sister, Barbara, predeceased him. John attended local schools and graduated from Attleboro High School in 1940 after which he attended Providence Bible Institute. After spending a year in the Attleboro Jewelry Trade School learning tool making, he worked for several jewelry factories in Attleboro.
His last job was as a progressive tool maker at Valentine Tool and Stamping, Inc He was a gifted and creative worker and craftsman. He is survived by his son, Rev J. Mark Norlund and his wife, Mona Norlund; and his daughter, Debra Poczatek and her husband, Julian Poczatek; all of Petersburgh, NY.
Grandchildren include Michael, Meagan and Melissa Norlund, Angel White, and others related by marriage. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also loved him. John committed his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in early adulthood and lived a life that glorified his Savior and Lord.
He was an active member of Faith Alliance Church in Attleboro, MA for many years and a member of Petersburgh Baptist Church for the last seven years. On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, a time of gathering will be held at the Petersburgh Baptist Church, at the intersection of Route 2 and 22 In Petersburgh, NY from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. The service celebrating John’s life will follow at 7 pm.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Woodlawn North Purchase Cemetery in North Attleboro. All who knew him are welcome.
