Obituary for Allan Chabot Sr. WATERVLIET – Allan D. Chabot, Sr., 89, died peacefully at his home on Monday, August 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Rouses Point, NY on March 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Henrietta Sanschagrin Chabot. At the age of 9, he moved to Watervliet and attended St. Brigid’s School and Watervliet High School.
He served his country with the Army National Guard from 1948-1953. He was employed as a milkman with Dairylea for 10 years. He later was a foreman for the Grand Union Supermarket Sign Shop in Waterford for 26 years before retiring in 1991.
He was a past president and honorary life member of the Taconic Valley Rod & Gun Club in Eagle Mills. Allan was an avid hunter and gunsmith, enjoyed shooting, woodworking and was an artist who painted murals. He is the beloved husband of 62 years of Beverly H. Armstrong Chabot; devoted father of Nancy Chabot (Joe Jette) of Mariaville Lake, Wendy Chabot (Tom Lenard) of Anna Maria Island, FL and Allan D. (Sandra) Chabot, Jr. of Latham; proud grandfather of Tess Olivia Chabot and Faye Elizabeth Chabot; brother of Leonard Chabot of Scotia and the late Calvin Chabot, Margaret Engel and Eleanore Gladd.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Community Hospice, Landmark Home Healthcare and his aide, Barb Mochrie for the wonderful care given to Allan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros.
Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road on Thursday from 10-11:30 am followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd.
