Obituary for Milton Jones BERLIN – Milton Elmer Jones, 92, died peacefully Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his daughter Lynne’s home in Berlin with his family at his side. Born in Petersburgh on January 21, 1926, he was the son of the late Alfred Parker Jones and Harriet Littlefield Jones. Milton was raised and educated in Petersburgh and left school early to enlist into the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He served from 1943-1945. Upon returning home, he returned to school at the Veterans Vocational School (now Hudson Valley Community College) in Troy and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed as a master draftsman at various engineering and design firms retiring from the Tansitor Electronics in Bennington.

Milton lived in Petersburgh, Berlin where he built a home on Southeast Hollow Road, Cincinnati, OH and for the past 26 years in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was a member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, Berlin Rod & Gun Club, Berlin United Methodist Church, Taconic Valley Bowling League, the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Sundancers Model Airplane Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. Milton enjoyed building furniture, flying model airplanes, loved motorcycles, restoring cars and was a great husband, father and grandfather.

He was the beloved husband of 70 years of Charlotte Whitman Jones; devoted father of seven children, Susan (Ken) Farnik of Greer, SC, Alan (late Kim Jenks) Jones of Ft. Pierce, FL, Lynne (Tad) Hewitt of Berlin, Michael (Joy) Jones of Petersburgh, Nancy (Terry) Lamphere of Petersburgh, Brian (Kathy) Jones of Petersburgh and Jeffrey (Ann) Jones of Grafton; brother of the late Bernis Jones, Mildred Melle and Marsden Jones; brother in law of Russell Whitman of Linden, TN. He is also survived by 28 cherished grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh on Sunday from 2-4 pm. The funeral service will follow at 4 pm at the funeral home with his son in law, Terry Lamphere conducting the service. Cremation will follow and his ashes will be buried in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Petersburgh at a later date.
