Obituary for David Mele Jr. WATERVLIET – David Matthew Mele, Jr., 36, died peacefully Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his sister Danielle’s home in Watervliet with his family at his side. David was born in Troy on November 17, 1981, the beloved son of David M. Mele, Sr. of Menands and the late Joann Consuelo Mele. Dave was raised and educated in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School, class of 2000 where he played varsity football for the Cannoneers wearing #34.
Dave was an accomplished chef and was employed by Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush for 7 years, the Black Bear Inn in Watervliet for many years and presently for the last 10 years by the wonderful Albany Country Club in Voorheesville where he was treated like family and who were so supportive of him during his illness. He enjoyed playing the drums and possessed a keen wit and sense of humor. He is the loving father of Ryleigh Mele of Catskill; dear brother of Danielle Mele of Watervliet, Lisa (Jerry) Mattes of Albany and Kimberly Mele of Troy; proud uncle of Amber Mele, Jaelyn Mele and Avianna and Julianna Martinez; nephew of Edward Mele, Joseph Mele and Mary Grace Sebast; cousin of Colleen Mele, Dena Murphy, Dana Coleman, Lindsay Mele and the late Dustin Mele; best friend and soulmate on another level of Deven Fuhrman; The funeral service will be Monday at 10:00 am at the Parker Bros.
Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm.
