Obituary for John L. “Jack” Sheehan Halfmoon – John L. Sheehan, 85, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2018 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center in Albany. Born in Troy on February 21, 1933, John was the son of the late Leo and Mary (Dowd) Sheehan. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.

John was employed for 43 years by the New York State Office of General Services retiring as a principal clerk in 1993. John enjoyed a long retirement spent with his family and friends. He was a long-time fan of the NY Mets and enjoyed Notre Dame Football.

John was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crescent. He was the best friend and much loved husband of Rosemarie “Rosie” (Tomaszicki) Sheehan, whom he married on July 12, 1958 at St. Anthony’s Church in Albany. He is also survived by his son, Joseph (Aimee) Sheehan of Fuquay-Varina, NC and his daughter, Colleen (Jack Wingate) Sheehan of Albany; his grandchildren, Melissa Sheehan (Zack Maskin) of Albany and John Dolan of Albany; his best canine buddy, Norman and several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-ceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Sheehan, Joan Sheehan who died on December 20, 2017 and Patricia Penn who died on November 20, 2018. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Blue Unit at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave to John during his stay. A funeral service will be celebrated by the Reverend Joseph Cebula on Tuesday at 11:30am in the Parker Bros.

Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Friends are invited and may also visit with John’s family on Tuesday, prior to the service, from 10 am until 11:30am at the funeral home.
