Obituary for Anne Avena Mortensen (Tresvik) Loudonville – Anne Tresvik Mortensen, 96, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Veterans Day, November 11, 2018. Born January 4, 1922, in Spencer, NY, Anne was the daughter of the late Viktor Artur and Aina Salminen Tresvik. Anne was a graduate of the Kingston Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
She was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Nurse Corps in the Philippines. Anne was the beloved wife of the late Earl Roth Mortensen Sr., who she married on January 18, 1949 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Westerly, RI. She is predeceased by siblings Victor, Paul, and Gertrude Tresvik, and her son, Russell Gary Mortensen.
Survivors include her sister Edna Tresvik Guy; six sons, Earl Jr., Robert, Wesley, Eric, Frederick and Lars Mortensen; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who all adored her. Anne worked as a Registered Nurse until her retirement. She enjoyed her retirement as a proud grandparent spending much of her time with family on both the East and West Coast, as well as pursuing an interest in family genealogy and corresponding with her relatives in Finland.
The family will hold a private funeral with Reverend Jo Page of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiating. Anne will be laid to rest in St John’s Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
