Obituary for Kataryna Moczulsky (Oskonyp) WATERVLIET – Kataryna Moczulsky passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the age of 90. Kataryna was born in Ukraine on September 21, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Makar) Oskonyp. In 1949, she came to the United States and resided in Boston, Massachusetts, for a brief time, before settling in Watervliet.
Kataryna was employed as a seamstress for many years. She worked at Marshall Ray and Company in Troy, and later at Ursula of Switzerland in Waterford, before her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed cooking, especially Ukrainian specialties, family dinners and the times spent with her family and friends.
Kataryna was devout in her faith and was a devoted member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet where she sang in the choir. She was the beloved wife of Stanley Moczulsky to whom she was married on September 23, 1945 in Germany. She was the loving mother of Stanley Mochulsky (late wife Kay) of Yorktown Heights, NY and the late Stephen Mochulsky (wife Jenitza); cherished grandmother of Anne Mochulsky (Paul Bingaman) of Stamford, CT, Joshua Mochulsky of Simpsonville, SC and Andrew Mochulsky (Taylor Marie Castaneda) of Savoy, IL; great-grandmother of Nora, Eleanor and Gatsby; sister of the late Maria (late Nick) Femiak.
Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:30 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10 am in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Watervliet where the funeral liturgy will be celebrated by the Reverend Mikhail Myschuk, Pastor.
Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with Kataryna’s family, at the funeral home, on Wednesday from 3 until 6 pm during which the Panakhyda Service will be held at 5:30 pm. For those wishing to honor the memory of Kataryna in a special way, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 2410-4th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189 .
