Obituary for Lillian B. Wheatley (Bateman) WATERVLIET – Lillian B. Wheatley, 87, of Seventh Avenue, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in Troy on February 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helene Reed Bateman. Lillian was a graduate of Catholic High School in Troy in 1948.
Lillian went on to work for the New York Telephone Company in Albany, leaving as office secretary in 1964. While raising her children, Lillian then went on to work for 18 years as a part-time switchboard operator for Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Lillian was a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens Center, as well as the Sacred Heart of Mary Rosary Society, and volunteered for many years at both the Hospice of Rensselaer County, and Our Lady of Hope in Latham.
Lillian is survived her daughter Donna (Jeffrey) Asadorian, David (Tracy) Wheatley, her grandchildren, Alexi, Brady and Lucas Asadorian and Ben Wheatley, her brother John Bateman (Margaret), nephews Jackie (Carol) and Steve (Lisa) Bateman, along with several great nieces and nephews. Lillian was predeceased by her husband Donald of more than 55 years, who passed in 2006. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Parker Bros.
Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Friends and relatives are invited and may call on Monday from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert A. Fahr Watervliet Public Library, 1501 Broadway, Watervliet, NY 12189.
