Obituary for Josephine J. Di Giuseppe (Salibeni) Germantown – Josephine Johanna Di Giuseppe, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at The Pines at Catskill Center for Nursing and Rehab. Born in Limina, Sicily on August 1, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Lucia Salibeni. Josephine moved to the USA when she was 3 years old, finding their home in the capital district.
She attended and graduated from Mount Pleasant HS in Schenectady and began working at her father’s meat market, Buffalo Meat Market. Josephine always had an entrepreneurial way about her. She owned and operated a local-favorite, Old Forge Restaurant in Germantown, ran a laundromat, helped her husband run Ralph’s Barbershop, and worked as the town clerk of Germantown for 9 years.
Even though she had much on her plate, she still found time to raise her four beloved sons. Josephine was a devout catholic and communicant of the Church of the Resurrection in Germantown. Josephine is survived by her four sons; Mark (Margaret) Di Giuseppe of Utica, Timothy Di Giuseppe of Schenectady, Matt (Alysia Miller) Di Giuseppe of Germantown, and Brian (Donna) Di Giuseppe of Rotterdam, her sister, Nancy (late Dino) Fiacco of Castleton on Hudson, and by many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ralph DiGiuseppe, and her two siblings; Mary Pijanowski and Francis Salibeni. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 10 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Ave.
