Obituary for Leonard Karl Madcharo Bellevue, Nebraska – Leonard Karl Madcharo, SMSgt, USAF, (Ret), 21½, beloved father, died November 8, 2018 surrounded by his children, grandchildren and former wife Margaret. Born in Schenectady, NY on February 29, 1932, Leonard was the 3rd of 5 sons born to Russian immigrant parents. Leonard enlisted in the Air Force in 1951; his career included air-sea rescue during the Korean War and service in Vietnam.
In 1977 he retired as a SMSgt at Offutt AFB, Nebraska. After retirement he used his GI Bill benefits to get his degree in engineering design and drafting and worked at Omeco Boss in Omaha, Nebraska as an engineering technician supporting pipeline and industrial processing projects. Survivors are former wife Margaret; their children SSgt Karl, USMC (Ret)), Michael & spouse Kelly, Katherine & spouse Alain, Eric, Paula & partner Tim, David, Sandra & partner Jeff; 6 grandchildren and spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews, grand and great.
Preceded in death by his father Kerell Modcharo, mother Paligia (Herizkova) Modcharo, and brothers Constantine K, Victor K, Nicholas K, and John K. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 9am in the Parker Bros. Memorial, Watervliet where the Very Reverend Peter Olsen will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Elm Street, Maplewood.
