Obituary for Sylvia Crandall (Grogan) Cropseyville – Sylvia R. Crandall, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Born in Petersburgh on March 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Grogan, Sr. and Hattie Grogan. Sylvia grew up on the north side of Petersburgh and was a 1948 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School.

Shortly after graduation she married the love of her life, the late Robert L. Crandall, and together they shared 61 blissful years of marriage until his passing in 2011. Sylvia was a long time volunteer at the Grafton Library, a job she thoroughly enjoyed, along with the many genres of books she could often be found reading. She was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Home Bureau.

In her free time she took joy and knitting; making countless winter hats to donate to local hospitals. Nothing brought her more joy than traveling around the country, including trips to Hawaii, California, Texas, Florida, and Maine, just to name a few. Sylvia is survived by her son, Alex (Reta) Crandall of Cropseyville, her granddaughters; Kimberly Gorleski of Troy and Jolene Crandall of Cropseyville, her great-grandchildren; Courtney Gorleski, Cole Gorleski, Benjamin Santandera, and Samuel Santandera, her sister, Nancy Morrissey of New Mexico, and by many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and by her siblings; Alonzo Jr., Jim, and Vera Grogan. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:30 PM at Grafton Center Cemetery. Order Flowers Sylvia R. Crandall (Grogan) 1931 – 2018 Click above to light a memorial candle.
