Obituary for Catherine Cournoyer (Brothers) MALTA – Catherine “Cathy” M. Brothers Cournoyer, 67, formerly of Maplewood, died peacefully, Sunday morning, October 21, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital with her family at her side. Born in Watervliet on January 26, 1951, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Prevuznak Brothers, Sr. Cathy attended School 8 & 9 in Watervliet and received her GED from Watervliet High School. Cathy was employed by Tiny Town Togs in Troy, Central Market Meat Counter in Lansingburgh, served as a lunch lady at Maplewood School for 10 years, Albany Law School as a secretary/receptionist for 8 years and Albany Medical Center for 5 years as a patient relations specialist before retiring 8 years ago.

Cathy moved to Malta in 1996 and was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church. She loved her family, her two granddaughters and her two cats, Peaches and Daisy. She is the beloved wife of 49 years of Michael R. Cournoyer, Sr.; loving mother of Michael R. Cournoyer, Jr. of Malta and Robert J. (Stephanie) Cournoyer of Mechanicville; adored grandmother of Madeline and Brianna Cournoyer; dear sister of Sandra (late George) Reilly of Watervliet, John Brothers of Ravena and the late Gary Brothers of Watervliet.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Xiao Su and Dr. Elizabeth Valentine and their wonderful nurses and staff at Saratoga Oncology/Hematology in Malta; the doctors and nurses of Saratoga Hospital who cared for mom during her frequent stays there; and Community Hospice who cared for mom in her final days. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 am from the Parker Bros.

Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Clifton Park at Ushers Road, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. F. Richard Lesser. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Maplewood.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 pm. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd. , Albany, NY 12208, Saratoga Hospital Foundation, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or to Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Round Lake, NY 12151.
