John Gary Barber, 71, of Greensburg, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 following a hard fought, year long battle with cancer. John was born July 26, 1947 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Edwin & Winifred Warrant Barber. He served his country with pride for 6 years as a US Navy Submariner and went on to a 40 year career with Westinghouse Electric.

John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Gail Sjoblom Barber; 4 children, Jeremy Barber and wife, Teresa, of Mt Pleasant, Jennifer Standish and husband, Casey, of Ohio, Katie Nicolazzo and husband Matt of Greensburg, and April Hauger and husband Andy of Greensburg; 9 grandchildren Katie Sarver, Brandon Sarver, Tommy Hauger, Cora Hauger, Mikey Nicolazzo, Charlotte Hauger, Jacob Hauger, Lily Standish and Ruby Standish; along with his sister Janet Gould and husband Richard of Florida and brother Jim Barber and wife Judy of Michigan and multiple nieces and nephews. John believed things should be done right and everything needed to be well thought out – ‘anything worth doing was worth over doing. ’ While he was not social, he was extremely kind, and gained the affection and respect of those around him through his willingness to lend a hand.

There will be no public visitations. The funeral service and burial will be private at Fairmont Cemetery, Cook Township.
