John H. Russell, 82, of Valverde Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at Lakeview Christian Home. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 11:00 AM, at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Chris Nikkel officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

John H. Russell was born November 8, 1936 in Baylor County, Texas to Hastin and Mary Beth (Self) Russell. He graduated from Paint Creek High School in Haskell County, Texas in 1955. John and Donna Sue owned and operated K-Bob’s Steakhouse’s for several years.

He later sold cars for Ross Hyden and Tate Branch Auto. John was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Lion’s Club and BPO Elks Lodge in 1558. John enjoyed hunting and fishing.

John was preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna Sue Russell, step son: Jody Don Brittain. Survivors are son: JK Russell; step daughter: Lora Lynn Brittain; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; brother: William “Bill” Russell and wife Valeria; sister: Cynthia Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews.
