Obituary for Mr. John Henry “CUDA” Holt On March 16, 1940, a boy child was born to Quilla and Louise Holt who was named John. He was the ninth child of ten to be born to this union. He was educated in Orange County Public Schools and developed a passion for football in the late 1950’s.

His speed led his friends to affectionately call him “Cuda” as he participated on the team as a line back and forged many victories for the Jones High School Tigers. With over 30 years of combined hotel and flight service systems experience: 10 years as a Bell Captain for Holiday Inns and Resorts and 20 years as a veteran porter/Sky Cap for the Greater Orlando International Airport, John was introduced to worlds of personalities and developed for himself a cordial and festive mood toward life. Life is incredibly fragile and John’s outlook was: “Just because life doesn’t last forever, doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it”.

John adopted a line backer’s demeanor as his way of life. The right outside line backer’s job is to stay on his side of the field, lagging a little behind the play, to make sure the running back can’t reverse direction and get around the defense. Not everyone is meant to be a permanent fixture in our lives, or we would never experience the change that brings us to newer and even better experiences.

One Monday morning, John, the Jones High School line backer released his final farewell to some of his happiest days. As John says goodbye to the life he has known thus far; a life which he devoted his physical health, his time, and most importantly, his heart – it also means saying “hello” to a whole new level of joy. Concluding his final season, he leaves to mourn a devoted and dedicated wife of 25 years: Cynthia (Winter Park); a son: Larry Bright (Orlando); daughter: Felecia Mitchell (Orlando); Sister-inlaw: Betty Spencer, 3 grand children, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
