We celebrate the man who was known as “Jack Flynn”, an Irishman who was loved by many throughout his lifetime. He was the oldest of nine children, with six brothers Tom, Paul, Mike, Bobby, Danny, and Patrick, and two sisters Joanne, and Sheila.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland the son of John & Mary. His father John died at 41 years old when he was only 19 years old and serving in the US Marine Corps. His Mother Mary Shea Flynn was left with nine children from the ages of 1 to 19 years old.

Jack became the Father figure of his younger siblings. Jack was a very talented person who was intelligent and good looking who spent some time boxing, and even won a Maryland State Championship after leaving the Marine Corps. Jack joined the Postal Service as mail carrier working there for 35 years delivering the mail to his many customers.

Jack was lovingly known for his personality and humorous antics around the Post Office in Catonsville, Maryland. Jack married Beverly Mary Dantoni in 1957 and together they had four children; the twins John & Cathleen, Steven, and Jeannie Marie. Cathleen died shortly after her birth, but John survived.

They raised their family in Catonsville until 2010 moving to New Jersey to be close to their daughter Jeannie. Beverly had become ill and needed help from her daughter. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Betty passed away in 2014.

Jack continued to live in New Jersey in his own apartment until 2017 as he began to show signs of Dementia and needed help from Jeannie. He moved in with Jeannie and her husband, Tom, who both took great care of “Pop Pop” until he was called home by God just a few days ago. Many of Jack’s accomplishments are his written works of which one was published in 2017.

His book “Imaginary Conversations with Famous People” was a documentary of people stuck in purgatory (a mythical place between Heaven and Earth). These Famous people include the likes of Walt Whitman, Abraham Lincoln, Elvis Presley, John Wilkes Booth, and even Edgar Allen Poe. He wrote many articles that were published in Newspapers, Magazines, and Catholic Publications in Maryland & New Jersey.

His true love was writing and he wrote many books of which some may be published posthumously and will become his legacy. Jack was a strong man over six feet tall, very active well into his eighties. He would walk daily for 3-5 miles per day.

He loved reading and had a substantial collection of books. He loved playing guessing games with the family. Jack loved to have a cold Budweiser and a few shots of Whiskey.

One of his most famous sayings was “Whiskey for Johnny”! ! He was a true Irishman and loved St. Patrick’s Day and celebrated it merrily with family last year.
