Obituary for John J Kostelnik Funeral Mass for John J. Kostelnik, 64, of Mentor, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 37940 Euclid Ave. , Willoughby. Mr. Kostelnik passed away Sunday, Oct.
28, 2018, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township. Born Jan. 7, 1954, in East Cleveland, he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County, living in Willoughby and Thompson before moving to Mentor.
John was a 1973 graduate of Willoughby South High School, as the track record holder of the 440. He received a scholarship to Cathedral Latin High School for football his freshman year. John attended St. Mary’s Church in Mentor and Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby.
John loved camping and was a true outdoorsman. He was the loving father of Michael (Jessica) Kostelnik; cherished grandfather of four; beloved son of Mickey and Mary (nee Clifford) Kostelnik; brother of Thomas (Linda) Kostelnik, Connie (Gerry) Theobald, Marla Trisler, Bill Kostelnik, Nancy McLaughlin, Patty (Kevin) Byrnes, Carol (Tommy) Plaitano, Gail (Ken) Brugh, Ken (Valerie) Kostelnik and Kevin (Danyeill) Kostelnik; uncle of 41; and great-uncle of many. John was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Peggy Kostelnik; and grandparents, Mary and Mike Kostelnik, Rose and Roland Clifford.
Family will receive friends from 12 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave. , Willoughby. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
