Obituary for Frank V Masevice Frank V. Masevice died December 12, 2018, at the age of 99. A native Clevelander, he was born during the 1918-19 flu pandemic. He joked that he barely survived his first year, then lived to almost 100!

Frank graduated from East High School, where his excellence at baseball earned him a minor league offer from the St. Louis Cardinals. A devoted son, he declined the offer in order to stay in Cleveland and care for his mother. He served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre, and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service on Okinawa.

During the time he was assigned kitchen duties, he even raised morale by finding the ingredients to serve pancakes and syrup, and surprising the troops with Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings! After returning from the war, Frank worked a variety of jobs, from cooking to manufacturing. However, he found his true calling at Caterpillar, where he was a self-educated design engineer, and received a US patent for his work on lift truck design.

While he excelled at work, Frank valued family above all else. He met his beloved wife, Lucille, while working at University Hospital, and they enjoyed a loving, 63 year marriage. Together they had a son, Anthony (Susan); and daughter, Lucille (Ron) Shissler; as well as two granddaughters, Rachel (Jeremy) Winkler and Rebecca (Stan) Mouser; and two great-grandsons, Luke and David Winkler.

Frank was extraordinarily generous and would do anything to help those he loved. He will be greatly missed. Funeral Mass of remembrance will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday, December 17, at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township.

(Family and friends are asked to please meet at church. ) Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave. , Willoughby.

Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland. To leave condolences for the family, order flowers or participate in the Memorial Tree Program, visit www. MCVfuneralhomes.com.
