Obituary for John Olavi Raikkonen John O. Raikkonen, 79, of Summerville, husband of the late Paula Raikkonen, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at his residence. A visitation will be held on Thursday May 3 from 6-8 pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. John was born on September 10, 1938 in Finland, son of the late Ola Heikinheimo and Sylvia Raikkonen.

John immigrated from Finland at the age of 17. He started his career in this country as a successful country club manager and then was the owner of The Pasta House, a 5 star Italian restaurant in Fairhaven,MA for 23 years. After retiring, he wrote and published an autobiography about his exciting life, called “Life is an Amazing Song”.

Survivors include one son: John C. Raikkonen of Central; two daughters: Laila Sullivan (Rick) of Dartmouth, MA and Claudia Postell (Marty) of Summerville; five grandchildren: Parker Vigeant of Dorchester, Savannah Vigeant of Fairhaven, MA, Sophia Vigeant of Summerville, Cody Postell of Summerville, and Brycen Postell of Summerville; one great grandson: Oakland McGill of Fairhaven, MA; one brother Kari Raikkonen and one half sister Lena Ekman. He was predeceased by one sister, Inga Raikkonen. A memorial message may be written to the family by visiting our website at www.
