OBITUARY John Travis Hooten February 25, 1955 – September 21, 2018 John Travis Hooten, age 63 of Lynchburg passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 of cardiac-pulmonary issues. Born in Lynchburg, February 25, 1955, he was the son of the late Dr. William S. Hooten and Margaret Travis Hooten. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and served during Vietnam.

He was an EBay Technician for Lynchburg Pawn. John was an artist and musician and founder of the band, Rivermont. He graduated in 1973 from EC Glass High School and then from Virginia Commonwealth University where he obtained a BFA degree.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen G. Hooten. He is survived by a daughter Erin Hooten; a brother, William S. Hooten, Jr. and wife Jo; a sister, Janet Paris Coffey and husband Michael. He is also survived by his sweetie, Diane E. Henson; as well as four devoted nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, services will be private.
