Of Level Green, Penn Twp. , age 31, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born in Monroeville on March 2, 1987 to his loving and surviving parents, Denise Antonucci Westwood of Level Green and Ben (Holly) Westwood, III of Plum.

John was preceded in death by his dear brothers, Ben (surviving spouse, Marcie) Westwood, IV and Nicholas Westwood. Father of Giana Duckworth. Grandson of Dorothy Westwood and the late Ben Westwood, Jr.; and Joseph “Sonny” Antonucci and the late Jan Antonucci Stover (surviving spouse, John Stover).

Nephew of Joseph (Linda) Antonucci, Jr., Renee Martino, Kim Antonucci, Patrick (Jessica) Antonucci and the late Robert Westwood (surviving spouse, Carol). Uncle of Nina and Mia George. John is also survived by numerous cousins.

John entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007, became a member of the 2nd Marine Division and deployed on 2 combat tours. The first tour was to Iraq in 2008. The second tour was to Afghanistan in 2010 where he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart, the Navy Commendation Medal and a Meritorious Combat Promotion to the rank of Corporal.

Upon his return to the United States, John’s desire was to pursue a career with the Marine Corps but, due to the combat injuries he suffered, he was forced to retire. He then worked various construction jobs and was hired into the Cement Masons Union, Local #526. In his leisure time, John loved to ride his quad vehicles ever since he was a youth.

Friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-5pm and Monday from 2-8pm at Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home and Crematory, Turtle Creek/Monroeville Chapel, 1111 Monroeville Ave. at James St., Turtle Creek 412-823-9350 where a private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. John will then be laid to rest with his brothers, Ben and Nick, in Church Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project, 300 Grant St., Suite 900, Pgh.
