Obituary for John Ehid John Ehid, better known as “Uncle Chick” by some of his nieces and nephews, passed on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at The Chelsea at in Warren, New Jersey. He was 90 years old. Mr. Ehid was born November 28, 1928 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Abraham and Mary (Beyrouty) Ehid.

He was raised in New Brunswick and relocated to Piscataway where he lived with his brother Charlie’s family before settling in Somerset. Prior to his employment, John served his country in the Korean War. He was an instrument mechanic for E.R. Squibb, in New Brunswick where he worked for over 40 years.

He loved his daily trips to either Monmouth Race track or later in his life visits to The Legend to wager on the horses and socialize with his friends. He was an avid bowler and bowled on leagues for many years. Mr. Ehid was preceded in death by his, brothers and sister, Louie (Betty) Beyrouty, Charles (Frieda) Ehid, Tofik Ehid and Alice (George) Haggar and his loving companion of more than 50 years, Mary Helondovitch.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Mary Jean Ehid, Lisa Nicholson, Charles Ehid, Joe Haggar, Mary Dwyer, Lou Haggar, Tom Ehid and Doreen April and Mary’s son, John Michalylin. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews who loved him also. Visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873 on Wednesday, December 19th from 4-8 P.M. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M on Thursday, December 20th at Sacred Heart Church in New Brunswick.

Committal service will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choosing.
