Obituary for Johnnie E. Todd Johnnie Eichling Todd of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 24, 2018. He was born on February 25, 1934 to Nanny Jane and William C. Todd in Braggs, Oklahoma. Johnnie married the love of his life, Lizzie Mae Gibson of Sallisaw, Oklahoma on October 1, 1951 in Van Buren, Arkansas.
They shared 67 years of a happy life and marriage together in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Johnnie was a faithful member of Westside Church of Christ for many years. He had a lifelong passion and love for cars.
During his younger years, he raced at the historic Thunderbird Speedway. Johnnie considered his coworkers like family, especially those he worked with at Brewster’s Paint and Body Shop where he retired at the age of 65. He was well known for his love of pranks and a good joke.
He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He will always be remembered for his generosity and being an honest man. Johnnie’s greatest treasures were his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolyn Groves; brothers, Joe Todd, Rueben Todd, and Bill Todd; sisters, Belle Stewart, Lois Settlemeyer, Lela Roberts, and Charlotte Spenser. Johnnie is survived by his wife, Lizzie, of the home; children, Johnna and husband John O’Rear, Theresa and husband Bobby Brown, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, J. Groves, Lee Ann and husband Chris Hughes, Jimbo and wife Sarah O’Rear; Megan and husband Patrick Herriman, Samantha and husband Tyler Cook, and Bailey Brown; great-grandchildren, Kenadee Hughes, Sierra Groves, Aubree O’Rear, Annslee Hughes, Izzee O’Rear, Knox Cook; great-great-grandchild, Scarlett Rose; along with many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of special friends. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the staff at The Springs Nursing Center for the care and compassion shown to Johnnie and his family.
A celebration of Johnnie’s life will be 10AM, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Westside Church of Christ in Muskogee with Mr. Harry Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow at Citizen’s Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Jimbo O’Rear, Christopher Hughes, Tyler Cook, and Patrick Herriman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Settlemeyer, Cecil Howard, Ken Hutson, Ray Smith, and Bob Hendrix.
